LOL Wild Rift Patch 5.1A: Introducing Viego
League of Legends: Wild Rift Valley has received a new patch, accompanied by a series of changes and a significant addition to the popular MOBA game. LOL patch 5.1A will be released on April 28, 2024 (UTC 00:01), welcoming a brand new champion, Viego, The Ruined King. Riot Games will also introduce new features, events, and skins throughout the next couple of months with the implementation of LOL patch 5.1A. There have also been some potential leaks that came from data miners, but take these with a generous grain of salt. With several new skins on the way, now might be a good time to do a Wild Rift top up run to prepare for the fancy new cosmetics on the horizon.
Chaos Comes with a Gothic Fashion Sense
Viego is a new champion that will be added to the ever-growing cast of colorful characters. Also known as The Ruined King, Viego will become available starting May 8, 2024 (00:01 UTC) and will bring his own brand of vengeance to LOL Wild Rift. With a backstory befitting his equally grim moniker, Viego is a tragic character who died thousands of years ago due to a catastrophe called The Ruination. An event he himself caused during a botched attempt to resurrect his wife. The Ruination not only transformed Viego into a bitter undead wraith, it also left his kingdom and its citizens devastated.
In terms of gameplay, Viego is a jungler that has outstanding survivability thanks to his life steal ability along with his Sovereign’s Domination passive skill, which allows Viego to temporarily possess other champions once they are downed. Possessed champions will give Viego all the abilities of said character; as such, having basic knowledge of the other champion’s basics is required to take advantage of Viego’s unique skill. The Ruined King is a formidable warrior on the battlefield and is designed to be a highly dangerous champion in the hands of veteran players.
New Features and Rebalancing of Champions
Along with the upcoming debut of The Ruined King is a new feature called Final Stand, which is a new PVE mode that implements your typical Survival Mode rules where you, as Kalista, will be forced to battle wave after wave of enemies from the Iron Order. Final Stand will reward players the longer they manage to survive this hellacious battle. The Final Stand mode will become available on April 30, 2024 (00:01 UTC).
Riot Games will also apply a vast rebalancing over a slew of champions. Check the official League of Legends Wild Rift patch notes here to see if your favorite champion will receive any notable changes that will affect your strategy moving forward. These changes might shuffle the League of Legends Wild Rift tier list, so check LOL patch notes for further detail. New Events
League of Legends Wild Rift players will also have a handful of new events to look forward to, such as Legacy of the East, which will allow players the chance to obtain two special edition champions: Jade Dragon Wukong and Dragon Fist Lee Sin. Players can also join in on a special raffle draw, with the first 5x roll guaranteeing a nice premium reward.
The Ink Splendor event allows players’ access to new missions with rewards ranging from Kill Baubles, Rift Emblems, and Skin Vouchers. Players will also receive rewards after hitting specific milestones during the Splender’s Splendorous Gift event by reloading their Wild Cores.
